The so-called musculata, a cuirass with the shape of a muscular body, was worn from the 4th century BC until the 3rd century AD, first by the Greeks and then by the Romans.
The musculata is crafted from thick cow leather. It consists of a chest- and backplate that may be easily attached and adjusted by means of leather straps.
The leather is double-seamed on the edges. The musculata is well-suited to a chest circumference of 110 to 130 cm and weighs approximately 1.9 kg.
