Leg wrappings were worn by the Romans at Hadrian's Wall, Byzantines, Franks, Alemanni, Bavarians, Wenden (Slavs), Normans, Vikings and other peoples of Central and Northern Europe. The most commonly used materials were felt, wool, linen or leather.
