Product description
The helmet is based on a bascinet model from the first half of the 15th century.
The great bascinet emerged at the beginning of the 15th century. Its principal advantage over the traditional bascinet is that it features a neck guard providing additional protection, meaning a chainmail collar (camail) is not always necessary. Bascinets of this type offered excellent protection and were employed both on the battlefield and in jousting.
The helmet bowl is crafted from 2 mm thick steel, whilst the visor and other parts are constructed from 1.6 mm thick steel. It comes supplied with a leather chin strap and a textile liner, suitable for a maximum head circumference of 64 cm.
