Product description
The buckler is classified as a type IB according to Herbert Schmidt's typology. It has a round shape with sloping edges. The earliest depictions of this type of buckler appear in the early 14th-century Tower manuscript, though such weapons were likely already in use well into the 13th century. Bucklers of this kind remained in use until the 16th century. They were very popular and were employed both defensively and offensively in one-on-one combat.
The buckler is constructed from 2 mm thick steel. The edges are rounded, making it particularly safe to use. Its 2 mm steel construction makes it well-suited to reenactment and Historical European Martial Arts.
