Product description
Laces such as these were employed for a variety of purposes during the Middle Ages, especially the Late Middle Ages and the Renaissance. They were used to attach armour parts to the gambeson or acketon or mail parts. With laces such as these, the armour remained firmly in place during battle.
Such laces were also used for clothing and shoes. Chausses, for example, could be attached to braies. Good laces of this kind were also always useful for women's clothing — particularly when fastening garments.
The ends of the laces, the aglets, are crafted from brass. These are exact replicas of medieval originals. The laces come in a set of 5 and are extra long: 150 cm.
