Product description
Caps such as these were worn primarily by ladies during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. During these periods, ladies always wore head coverings in public. Only girls and ladies of light morals had uncovered hair. Caps of this kind were particularly popular amongst ladies from the bourgeoisie and the working class, such as peasant women, townspeople, market vendors and the like. Caps were also practical: during household tasks such as cooking and working with fabrics, the cap protected the hair against greasiness and dust. The cap may be fastened under the chin to keep it in place. Thanks to its universal design, it can be combined with many outfits and is well-suited to re-enactment, LARP, Cosplay and Theatre.
