Product description
The sword has been modelled after several original Oakeshott type XIIa swords. Swords of this type were used between 1170 and approx. 1400 AD, and were amongst the most common swords employed throughout Europe.
The sword has been developed by the makers of John Lee, and the blunt version is well-suited to intensive sword fighting. The sword is distinctive in that even the leather of the grip and the scabbard is crafted to a standard more akin to the expensive models of Valiant Armoury than to other models within its price range.
The sword is dispatched blunt and weighs approx. 1.2 kg. The blade is constructed from 4310 carbon steel with a hardness of HRC 53. The blade has a length of 86 cm and offers good flexibility. The sword has a total length of 110 cm and is fitted with a cross-guard of 18 cm in width.
The sword is particularly well-suited to the re-enactor, collector and sword fighting schools.
This sword is an Oakeshott type XIIa.
