The undergarment is based on originals from the (early) medieval period, as seen in manuscripts. It is well-suited to reenactments of Vikings, Anglo-Saxons, Franks, High Medieval periods, and many other time periods. It may be worn beneath a tunic or shirt. Undergarments were regularly washed, whilst outer garments were rarely washed to preserve the colour.
