Product description
The chaperon originated before 1200 as a hood with a short shoulder cape, which was pulled over the head or fastened at the front. The hood could be removed from the head and hang at the back, while the shoulder cape remained around the neck and shoulders.
This chaperon has a short liripipe and is executed in mi-parti style, with the colours beige and brown. Mi-parti, the assembly of clothing from differently coloured fabric pieces, came into fashion from the thirteenth century onwards and gained increasingly stronger symbolic meaning in the centuries that followed. The chaperon is made from 100% cotton.
This chaperon is suitable for re-enactment and living history and forms a colourful addition to a high to late medieval outfit.
