Product description
This badge features the shape of a gargoyle (waterspout), the grim stone figures that guarded medieval churches and cathedrals. They served to direct rainwater away from the walls, but were also seen as wards against evil spirits.
In the Middle Ages, knights adorned their shields with heraldic designs to be recognized on the battlefield or during a tournament. Animals and mythical beasts such as lions and dragons were popular; lions stood for courage and strength, dragons for power and wisdom.
The badge is cast from lead-free tin and comes with a pin with loose closure. An atmospheric accent for your medieval reenactment or for your collection.
