Product description
This set takes you back to the Roman invasion of Britain. You receive a silver denarius of Julius Caesar, with an elephant and snake symbolizing his conquest of Gaul, and a golden stater of the Celtic Catuvellauni tribe, with a horse on the reverse.
The coins are cast directly from original specimens and executed in tin; the golden stater has a layer of 22-carat gilding. Caesar landed in 55 and 54 BC in Britain, where Celtic tribes offered fierce resistance.
Coins then also served as messengers throughout the empire. An educational collectible or gift for enthusiasts of Rome and the Celts.
