Product description
This coins packet contains a replica of a denarius of Julius Caesar, directly modeled after an original. The coin was struck in 49 BCE by a military mint that traveled with Caesar. The obverse shows an elephant and a snake, the reverse sacrificial attributes.
Gaius Julius Caesar (ca. 100-44 BCE) was one of the most influential figures in world history and played a key role in the transition from the Roman Republic to the empire. His conquest of Gaul brought the Roman world to the Atlantic Ocean, and he undertook two expeditions to Britain. On March 15, 44 BCE, he was assassinated by a conspiracy led by Brutus.
The coin is made of tin with a silvery-gray luster. A striking piece for collectors and enthusiasts of Roman antiquity.
