Product description
This replica of Oliver Cromwell's shilling takes you back to the turbulent years following the English Civil War. The original was struck during the Commonwealth, after King Charles I was executed in 1649 and Cromwell ruled England as Lord Protector.
The coins is cast directly from an original specimen and made in lead-free tin. On the obverse you see a bust of Cromwell, on the reverse a coat of arms. The edge inscription means "peace is sought through war" — a telling motto for that time. The coins comes in a blister on an information card with historical background about Charles I.
A fine addition to your collection or as a tangible piece of history for those fascinated by the Stuart period.
