The crescent-shaped lunula pendant on this necklace was worn by girls in ancient Rome as an apotropaic amulet — the female equivalent of the bulla worn by boys — and served as protection against evil forces, demons, witchcraft and the evil eye.
The necklace is hand-woven with a hook clasp and made in bronze; chain length approx. 55 cm, pendant 2.3 x 3 cm.
