This miniature ax is a detailed replica of the so-called 'axe of Perun', a Slavic one amulet from the late Viking Age that goes back to historical finds from the late 11th to early 12th centuries. It amulet was worn as a pendant around the neck by West Slavs and Russians and was an attribute of Perun, the highest god in Slavic mythology.

Archaeologically this is axe-amulet classified as type 2 according to Makarov, a type that often occurs in eastern finds from the Viking Age and was distributed in the Slavic countries of the Baltic area, Poland, Ukraine and Western Russia. Characteristic are circle eye decorations and zigzag lines, interpreted as a symbol for sun and lightning; some also see a hidden ship image in the shape, with stem, stern and sail.

In addition to being the supreme god, Perun was also the god of thunder, thunder and lightning, with the ax as one of his attributes in addition to the oak and the lily. An atmospheric one amulet for those who want to portray Slavic or early medieval culture.
