Product description
The morion is an open combat helmet that originally comes from Spain and was worn from the beginning of the 16th century until the beginning of the 17th century. In England, this helmet – also known as the pikeman’s pot – is associated with the New Model Army, one of the first professional armies. It was worn by pikemen, together with a breastplate and a buff leather gambeson, while they protected the flanks of the unarmoured musketeers in pike-and-shot formations.
This helmet takes you back to the 17th century and the English Civil War. The 'pikeman's pot' was worn by pikemen who, together with musketeers, stood in tight formations. The sturdy dome shape offered good protection against blows from above.
The helmet has a smooth, black finish with riveted detailing and adjustable leather belts for a good fit.
