Product description
The Justaucorps or Justacorps is a seventeenth-century coat that was first worn in armies across various European countries. It gradually became a fashionable garment amongst ordinary citizens. This type of coat was worn during the Dutch Golden Age, in the Napoleonic era, and by figures such as privateers, pirates, musketeers, and Jacobites. Presumably, pirates acquired this style of coat from wealthy merchants and incorporated it into their own uniform.
The coat is crafted from sturdy cotton and is fully lined on the inside. It features a close-fitting top and is flared at the bottom, with brass buttons on the sleeves, on the chest, and on the pockets. Characteristic of these coats are the coloured horizontal and vertical strips.
