Product description
These sabatons are a hand-forged reconstruction of late medieval foot armour, with a sharply tapered point following the example of the poulaine shoes that were fashionable in the 14th and 15th centuries. A sabaton, also called a solleret, was typically the first piece of armour a knight put on when dressing in armour and consisted of riveted steel plates that protected the top of the foot.
This purple is hand-forged from 1.5 mm steel and browning-finished on the inside for extra corrosion protection. The sabatons have no sole and consist of a tapered, pointed nose, multiple hinged plates, an ankle plate, a tongue plate and a heel piece, all connected with rivets. Leather straps are riveted to the underside with which you fasten the sabatons over your footwear.
These sabatons are suitable for re-enactment and living history and fit well with a late medieval costume outfit, suitable for shoe size 44 to 47. When determining the correct size, always use the shoes you wear underneath as a starting point. Supplied as purple.
