Product description
The dagger is a replica of an original from the 1st century AD found in Pompeii. Pugiones of this kind were employed throughout the Roman Empire, though they were not part of the standard equipment of the legionary. Roman soldiers most probably acquired them as private property.
The pugio is crafted from carbon steel and bears the typical form of a pugio from the period of Emperor Augustus, 1st century AD and 2nd half of the 2nd century AD. The dagger is supplied with an iron scabbard constructed after an original discovered in the Rhineland. The pugio is 34.5 cm in length, with a blade of 22 cm. It weighs 700 grams.
