The replica sword is based on historical swords from the 16th and 17th centuries. The rapier evolved during the Renaissance. With its elegant shapes, the rapier is the weapon of the musketeers. Wealthier citizens in particular carried a rapier or epee — weapons for duels, but also fashionable swords to display their wealth. The rapier's successor is the sabre. This fine rapier from Windlass Steelcrafts is constructed from a bone hilt with steel wire, permitting a secure grip. It is a light, fast, elegant, and deadly sword with a classic design. The rapier is supplied complete with a leather scabbard. The blade is forged from 1065 carbon steel and tempered to a hardness of 48–52 HRC. An excellent decorative sword for displaying on the wall or for use with a historical costume. Should you blunt the blade, it becomes a great training sword for sword fighting or for Historical European Martial Arts, and is equally well-suited to reenactment.
