Product description
A beautiful rapier by Windlass Steelcrafts, crafted after Renaissance rapiers from the 16th and 17th century. Such rapiers were mainly employed for duelling. Aristocrats predominantly wore rapiers as a fashion accessory to impress others. The rapier features an elegant and sleek design, with a polished bone grip and a beautifully shaped pommel. The long cross-guard permits the wearer to block the opponent's sword, whilst the basket protects the hand during duelling. This replica rapier is delivered complete with a leather scabbard. The semi-sharp blade is forged from tempered 1065 carbon steel with a hardness of 48–52 HRC. An excellent sword for display on the wall and for collectors of rapiers, also well-suited to a Three Musketeers cosplay costume or for reenactment of Borgia, Medici and other Renaissance aristocratic families. Once the blade has been blunted, it may be utilised as a training sword and for Historical European Martial Arts.
