The dress is based on Renaissance originals found in paintings, such as those depicting the Medici family. Dresses of this kind were worn principally during the Italian Renaissance; particularly distinctive is the beautifully elegant puffed model of the sleeves. Puffed sleeves were worn at European courts, and this style was subsequently adopted into the fashion of the bourgeoisie. Puffed sleeves were also a sign of wealth, being worn to demonstrate that sufficient funds existed to purchase abundant quantities of fabric. The dress features a V-neck with an extra strip of fabric. The dress is comfortable and airy, and may be beautifully combined with a coat, cloak, vest or other Renaissance clothing.
