The ring belt is a universal belt that was employed from the early Middle Ages to the late Middle Ages. Wearing a belt was essential during this period owing to the loose fit of garments. Using a belt, ladies and gentlemen could emphasise their shapes and achieve a closer fit. Bags, knives and other utensils were also fastened to the belt so that everything was readily to hand. The closure of the belt consists of a metal ring that is fixed in the leather with a brass pin. The belt may be closed by passing the end through the ring and tying it — easy and efficient.
