Product description
The oil lamp is crafted after an original from the 1st century AD. It is decorated with the depiction of two gladiators surrounded by a laurel. Oil lamps were the principal source of artificial light during the Roman Empire and afterwards. They were produced in a great diversity of forms.
Olive oil was originally employed as fuel, though this oil lamp may of course also be burnt with modern lamp oil. The oil lamp is entirely hand made using two different moulds, and is afterwards fired at a temperature of 1200 °C. Crafted from red clay, terra sigillata, it has a length of 14 cm. Delivered including wick.
