Product description

The tunic is crafted from sturdy cotton, based on various examples of Roman tunics from the second half of the 1st century BC to the second half of the 1st century AD. Examples may be found on Roman gravestones in Bonn, on the Luxor fresco in Egypt, and amongst the excavations of Legio VIII Augusta at the fort of Vindonissa in Switzerland. Originally, tunics had no sleeves. Some tunics were constructed from more fabric, which naturally formed sleeves. Legionaries wore tunics in various colours, including red.
