Product description
This fibula is a replica of a typical Roman soldier's brooch from the 1st century, known as the Aucissa fibula after the maker's name AVCISSA that was often stamped on these mass-produced examples. It was worn by legionnaires to fasten the heavy, coarsely woven Roman military cloak on the right shoulder, and later also by the civilian population.
Made in bronze, with dimensions of 5.5 x 2 x 2.7 cm, identical to the historical original.
The Aucissa fibula is a fairly simple hinged brooch with Celtic origins that was widespread in the early Roman imperial period. An authentic addition to your equipment for Roman re-enactment.
