Before the book as we know it existed, the Romans stored their writings on papyrus scrolls, which were placed in a capsa for transport and protection.
Such a tube was usually made of sturdy leather or wood, such as beech wood, and accommodated multiple scrolls at once, safe from dust, dirt and moisture. This reproduction is made of two-toned leather and closes securely with a lid; the adjustable long belt can be worn as either a hip or shoulder belt. Wealthy Romans and schoolchildren often had their tube carried by a special servant, who was therefore called a capsarius.
This tube comes with three matching scrolls, each equipped with two wood rods to unroll them easily and with a leather band to hold them together when not in use. Ideal for a scholar, his student, or any other LARP character who won't part with his important documents, spells, or song lyrics.
