Product description
This enamelled deer brooch is inspired by an image of a 3rd-century Roman belt buckle, on which a leaping deer in enamel and glass was inlaid. During Roman times, many exotic animal species were introduced to Northern Europe, including the fallow deer (Dama dama).
Wealthy Romans placed deer statues in the gardens of their villas, and the animal also appeared on pottery and coins. The brooch is executed in gold colour and inlaid with red and blue enamel, with a brooch pin on the back to fasten the jewellery to clothing.
An elegant accent for your Roman costume and a fine addition for enthusiasts of antique animal motifs.
