This enamelled Medusa brooch is a replica of a rare design worn by the Roman elite. Central to the piece is the face of the Gorgon Medusa, surrounded by concentric circles with enamel inlay. It is a fine example of the craftsmanship of master jewellers from 3rd-century Rome.
The fibula is finely cast and inlaid with vibrant blue, red and green enamel. On the reverse side is a brooch pin with which you can securely fasten the jewel to your clothing.
