Product description
This Roman thimble is a tribute to the oldest known example in the world. It was discovered in Pompeii and dates from the 1st century AD. With such a thimble, one would sew linen, cotton or fine silk, safely protected from the pricking needle.
The original Roman thimbles were made of bronze, after which the dimples were punched in by hand. This replica is cast and finished in a warm bronze colour that beautifully approximates that craftsman original.
A charming detail for your Roman equipment, a nice showpiece in the display cabinet or an original gift for those who love craftsmanship and antiquity.
