Product description
The Sallet helmet, or sallet, is a development of the bascinet. It was well-suited to medieval archers and infantry. Sallets such as this were worn across Europe and were very popular, as they offered excellent visibility and hearing. This type of sallet first appeared between 1370 and 1390 in Northern Italy. In the first half of the 15th century, the sallet became very popular in Italy, France, and England.
Thanks to its neck guard, the sallet provides protection for both the head and the neck. This proved especially useful against incoming arrows or stones during sieges. A fine helmet for medieval reenactment or LARP.
