Product description
The detailed replica of a medieval ring has been crafted after a historic original that once belonged to the daughter of Anglo-Saxon King Aethelwulf of Wessex. It dates from the Viking age of 853–874. The Aethelswith ring was designed in the so-called Trewhiddle style, typical of Anglo-Saxon art in the 9th century. The original ring was constructed from gold with niello inlay. The ring is now held in the British Museum in London. The ring may be adjusted in size.
