Product description
The design of this gugel was inspired by the discovery of a bog body still clothed and wrapped in a woollen blanket at Skjoldehamn farm in Andøya, Norway. Whilst the exact age remains uncertain, recent surveys point to the 11th century. The sex of the bog body has also not been conclusively determined, although it is currently believed to be female. The Viking hood was an essential item of clothing worn by the Vikings during their expeditions and voyages of discovery. The gugel was constructed from durable materials such as wool and offered protection against the harsh elements of the Nordic countries. The gugel is well-suited to festivals, LARP, reenactment, and is particularly effective on cold and wet days, keeping the wearer warm.
