The design of this gugel was inspired by the discovery of a bog body still clothed and wrapped in a woollen blanket at Skjoldehamn farm in Andøya, Norway. Whilst the exact age remains uncertain, recent surveys point to the 11th century. The sex of the bog body has also not been conclusively determined, although it is currently believed to be female. The Viking hood was an essential item of clothing worn by the Vikings during their expeditions and voyages of discovery. Crafted from durable materials such as wool, the gugel offered protection against the harsh elements of the Nordic countries. The gugel is particularly well-suited to festivals, LARP, reenactment, and is especially well-suited to cold and wet days when it will keep you warm.
