The clothing of the Templars, along with their flags and banners, featured a white colour, symbolising their religious calling, and a red cross with broad arms placed on the centre of their chest. This symbol was meant to represent the four elements (the arms) and the "quintessence" (the centre). The vermilion cross was granted by Pope Eugene III in 1147, permitting it to be employed as a shield and serving to keep the Templars resolute in their fight against the infidels.The spread of this Templar cross knew no boundaries, as it became widely recognised and used throughout the world. It was even adopted by Christopher Columbus during his voyages of discovery as a symbol on the "three caravels." This 'stone' is crafted from synthetic resin with a sandstone look. This material is well-suited to use under the open air. However, the colour of the stone finish may fade a little over time in direct sunlight.
