Product description

The statue is a handmade wood carving of the Viking god Thor. It is inspired by the Icelandic statue of Thor from 1000 AD, found on the Eyarland farm near Akureyri. The original may be seen in the National Museum in Iceland. The statue probably shows Thor holding his Mjolnir. In Icelandic tradition, the Mjolnir is often shown in the shape of a cross. The statue may be based on a scene from the Edda, where Thor is sitting and grasps his Hammer with both hands during a wedding ceremony. This wood carving is a work of art that is particularly well-suited to home decoration, a home altar, or to give as a gift. It may optionally be painted a different colour, or stained should you wish to place it outside.
