The hand-and-a-half sword offers a fine combination of weight and force. It is fitted with a short and deep fuller to render the sword lighter and better balanced. Hand-and-a-half swords of this kind were mainly popular during the 15th century. The pommel is of type T (scent stopper), a form employed principally in Germany.
The blade is crafted from carbon steel with a hardness of HRC 50 – 53. It is furnished with a hard wooden grip covered in black leather. The sword has a length of 119 cm, a blade of 88.90 cm, and weighs approximately 1 kg. The point of balance is situated approximately 8 cm below the cross-guard.
This sword is an Oakeshott type XVIIIa.
