Product description
This Tudor seal ring is a replica of a gold seal ring with the monogram 'W.S.', intertwined with a love knot. The original ring was found in 1810 near the cemetery of Holy Trinity in Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare. Whether the ring truly belonged to Shakespeare cannot be proven, but it is precisely the type that an Elizabethan gentlemen wore.
Remarkably, Shakespeare's will bears no seal: the closing phrase 'In Witness whereof I have hereunto put my Seale' was altered, with 'Seale' being crossed out and replaced by 'hand'.
The ring is cast from lead-free tin and features an adjustable band. An intriguing piece for enthusiasts of the Tudor period, of Shakespeare, or for your collection.
