The bronze Valkyrie pendant is a replica from the Viking era, depicting a female figure, nobly dressed and with tied hair, holding a drinking horn. The original is exhibited at the Danish National Museum. The Viking amulet is interpreted as a Valkyrie offering a fallen warrior a horn of mead to welcome him to Valhalla. Depictions of women are more common amongst pendants in Viking Age finds. These were likely worn as a protective amulet during that period, as in Norse mythology Valkyrie women were considered those who, following battle, chose the souls of fallen warriors (Einherijr) to guide them to the halls of Valhalla.
