This pendant can be divided into two halves and shows a loving couple kissing - ideal as a love gift, so that both lovers can wear one half around their neck. The design is based on a so-called guldgubbe, found on the Danish island of Bornholm.

Guldgubber are one to two centimeter large figurative gold plates from the Iron Age that occur exclusively in Scandinavia; the majority were found on Bornholm, where around 2,500 specimens came to light at the Sorte Muld site near Svaneke alone. They typically depict a man, a woman, a couple kissing, or animals, and are interpreted as votive offerings or as images of a divine couple, with a link to marriage and fertility. The earliest examples date from the Germanic Iron Age from around 375, with a heyday in the Vendel period between 550 and 800.
