The beautiful Viking dress has been designed based on excavations of original textile remains from the early Middle Ages. Dresses of this kind were worn alone or over another dress during colder weather. The dress presents a stunning contrast of the colours azure and brown — colour contrasts of this nature were common amongst garments of the early Middle Ages. The body of the dress is azure, whilst the fabric at the collar, sleeves and skirt is brown. Gussets are triangular pieces of fabric sewn into the skirt to shape the garment to the body, to make the skirt wider, and to permit greater freedom of movement. Gussets were employed in almost every early medieval dress. This dress is well-suited to re-enactment, historic LARP and Cosplay of series such as Vikings or Last Kingdom.
