Product description
The fixed shaft drawer loom is a replica of 9th-century originals, featuring 12 drawers and 13 holes for weaving. Looms of this type were employed throughout the Viking World, and one specimen is held in the National Archaeological Museum in Dublin. Much as with conventional loom weaving, this fixed shaft drawer loom permits the creation of beautiful fabric belts or decorative edges for the hem of your medieval clothing, depending on the thickness of the thread. The width of the loom determines the width of the woven ribbon. A fixed shaft drawer loom is well-suited to mastering the technique of belt weaving, as it is inexpensive, readily available, and considerably easier to use than weaving with loom planks. It should be noted, however, that unlike plank weaving, a loom can only be utilised to weave longitudinal striped edges and not complex patterns.
