Product description
The needle case is a replica of a 9th–10th century original excavated alongside another needle case in grave 515 in the Viking town of Birka. Needles were considerably more expensive than modern ones, so they were kept safe with great care. The needle case was fastened to the belt by means of a lace. This beautifully decorated piece served both a functional and a decorative purpose.
