Product description
The bronze Viking pendant is decorated with the Aegisjalmur motif. Aegisjalmur, or Helmet of Awe, is a powerful symbol of Norse mythology and can be found in manuscripts from the Middle Ages to the eighteenth century. The name is derived from the god Aegir, god of the seas of Jotunheim, the land of the ice giants. In the Edda, the dragon Fafnir states that he is invincible because he wears this symbol. Many Vikings wore this symbol during battle, hoping that it would strengthen them and make them victorious like Fafnir. Crafted from cast bronze, the pendant is particularly well-suited to modern Vikings or for Viking costumes.
