This rod-shaped chain divider is an exact replica of a find from Stora Ire near Hellvi on the Swedish island of Gotland. There are six holes on the back for attaching multiple chains, although fewer can be added.

Between about 700 and 1000 AD. Oval fibulae with chain dividers were an essential part of Viking Age women's costume in Sweden and the Baltic region, and such finds are common in women's graves from that period — especially in eastern Sweden, Gotland and the Baltic region.
