This tortoise brooch is based on a find from the Viking Age from Truso, a trading settlement on the Baltic Sea that is also known as the 'Atlantis of the North' and lay on the Amber Route in the 9th century.
Executed in bronze, with dimensions of 6 x 3 x 1 cm. On the back there is a sturdy pin, suitable for heavy fabrics.
Tortoise brooches were a fixed part of women's dress during the Viking Age and were worn in a purple under the shoulders to fasten the apron to the surcoat. The price applies to one fibula. A fine addition to your equipment for Viking Age re-enactment.
