Product description
The seax is a short sword without a guard and a fairly straight blade. This type of sword was mainly employed during the early Middle Ages. The Saxons, Germanic peoples and Vikings all fought with a seax. The seax was cheaper to produce than a sword and, according to some sources such as the Icelandic sagas, was simply much more beloved than the sword. Alongside its function as a weapon, it served as a handy tool. It was used to skin animals after hunting, and could likewise be employed for weed cutting and harvesting.
The seax is crafted with a beautiful hand-forged blade and a wooden grip. It comes with a handsome brown leather scabbard featuring braided decorations and a hand-stitched border. The sheath permits the seax to be hung from the belt.
