Product description
The beautiful Viking shield offered here is crafted from approximately 13 mm thick plywood and decorated with a hand-painted Norse dragon or grief animal, a motif that appears frequently in Viking art. It may also depict the so-called Midgard Serpent. An umbo is mounted at the centre of the shield, securely attached with four rivets. The reverse of the shield is painted black and features a sturdy wooden handle. Whilst this wooden shield is perhaps a little too light and thin for full-contact sword fighting, it remains an excellent accessory for reenactment, LARP, stage, or television and film productions. It is equally well-suited to display as a fine collection or exhibition piece, and serves as a handsome decorative object for all those with a love of history and Vikings.
