Viking disc fibula Borre style, Fæsted, bronze

This openwork disc fibula is based on a find from Fæsted in South Jutland, Denmark, and is executed in the so-called Borre style.

Executed in bronze, with a diameter of 3.4 cm. On the back there is a sturdy needle with which the fibula is fastened to the garment.

The Borre style represents the second phase of the Scandinavian gripping beast style and was especially popular in eastern Scandinavia. Characteristic are mirror-symmetrical motifs such as circles and squares, often interwoven in braided band ornamentation with mythical beasts. A fine addition to your equipment for Viking Age re-enactment.
