Viking disc fibula Borre-style, Fæsted, silvered bronze

This openwork disc fibula is based on a find from Fæsted in South Jutland, Denmark, and is executed in the so-called Borre style.

Executed in silvered bronze, with a diameter of 3.4 cm. On the back there is a sturdy pin with which the fibula is attached to the garment.

The Borre style represents the second phase of the Scandinavian animal-grip style and was especially popular in eastern Scandinavia. Characteristic are mirror-symmetrical motifs such as circles and squares, often interwoven in interlace ornamentation with mythical animals. A fine addition to your equipment for Viking Age re-enactment.
